Emeritus Professor of Art History

James Gordon (Jim) Rogers, Jr. is Emeritus Professor of Art History at Florida Southern College. He received his Ph.D. in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Missouri at Columbia. In addition to teaching and college administration, he has been active as a lecturer in the fields of art and architecture. He is the author of books and articles, has curated numerous art exhibitions, and has served on boards of directors and panels for public institutions, including recently the Polk Museum of Art, the Imperial Symphony Orchestra, and Historic Lakeland. In the past he has served on panels for the Florida Arts Council. At Florida Southern College Rogers was active in the development of the College’s signature study abroad programs and over a period of sixteen years he organized study abroad trips to Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America, many of which he also led. In 2003, he set up the College’s international French language program partnership with the Université Catholique de l’Ouest in Angers. France. He has been active in professional associations and is a member of numerous museums.
